Fighting to retain our school sixth forms

PM at ProtestIMG_0859
As you will all be aware the last few years has seen a series of heated battles between the ruling ‘Independent’ Councillors and pupils and parents from across the County. Despite overwhelming public opposition, the ‘Independent’ group of Councillors were determined to force through the end of sixth form education in Pembrokeshire.

For me, this battle has never been about the right or the wrong option. It’s been about maintaining choice for the individual pupils.

After more than 2 years fighting these changes it was finally confirmed recently that sixth form education is to continue.

It’s been a long hard battle and I’ve been proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with pupils, parents, teachers and a number of councillors from across the political spectrum (save of course the ruling ‘Independents’).

You can read some of my previous posts on this subject here;

I attended and spoke at the original public meeting, opposing the changes

You can find lots of the formal documents dealing with the proposed changes here.
